Frankfurt show – Chevy’s muscle-car image not for Europe Countries

Chevrolet is unveiling the convertible version of its iconic Camaro model at Frankfurt, while the coupe is being seen by European audiences for the first time.
But despite its iconic name, Chevrolet is still struggling to make sales headway in Europe.
European head Thomas Sedran believes, however, that the brand can improve its position among European buyers.
“The market in Europe is tough anyway and we have had a difficult 2013 so far but we decided not to try and buy market share,” Sedran tells Headline Auto.
“We have pulled out of low margin business such as daily rental and motability – we need to make money and we are in the cage with some big gorillas.
“Retail is doing well across Europe with 110,000 sales to the end of August, but if you add in Russia then the picture is very different, boosting our numbers to 340,000.”
Sedran’s biggest challenge is brand awareness. Certainly Chevrolet is a very well known name but the perception is wrong, focused on cars such as the Camaro rather than its Euro range of mainstream vehicles.
“This is not about US cars, it’s about cars that are very European in style and driveability,” he says.
“We need to appeal more to younger customers to help differentiate our cars from Opel. The fact is we are not among the top five when people are choosing a car.
“We will concentrate on our brand values which are expressive design, value for money and a good price. We will push the fact that Chevrolet enables people to stay connected and that’s very important for young buyers.”
Could Chevy use its halo cars, the Corvette and Camaro, more to help pull customers into dealership? “It certainly works at a motor show but these cars are in short supply so it is not possible for all dealers to have them,” Sedran says.
“We are looking at other ways, for example placing these halo cars in movies.”
Chevrolet’s strategy globally is to build vehicles where it sells so could it utilise some spare Opel capacity? According to Sedran there has been no decision yet on European production.

Frankfurt show – diesels fuel path to big growth for Maserati Cars

Maserati has set an ambitious target to raise global sales from 6000 to 50,000 by 2015.
This will initially be achieved on the back of three new models, keen pricing and the addition of diesel engines for the first time.
The all new Ghibli was unveiled in Shanghai and at Frankfurt has been joined by the latest Quattroporte 3-litre diesel.
Coming in 2015 is the brand’s first SUV which will be called Levante.
Maserati revealed that when the Ghibli comes to the UK it will be priced below £50,000 making it available to a wider number of potential customers.
The ambitious sales target will relieve pressure from Maserati’s Modena factory which builds the GranTurismo and GranCabrio. The Quattroporte and Ghibli will be assembled at the former Bertone factory in Turin and the SUV will go into production at Fiat’s Mirafiore plant.

Industry takes Note as Nissan boosts in UK

Nissan has today begun production of the new Note supermini at its UK plant in Sunderland.
The Note will further boost production at the plant, which is already the UK’s biggest car manufacturing facility.
It has also created a total of 2,000 new jobs in the UK automotive industry, including 400 staff at Nissan’s workforce at Sunderland. In total Nissan is now responsible for more than 35,000 British jobs.
Nissan invested a further £125 million for production of the new Note, secured for the UK with a £9.3m grant from the UK Government’s Regional Growth Fund.
The official start of production was marked at a ceremony on Line 2 at the Sunderland Plant attended by John Martin, Nissan’s Senior Vice President for Manufacturing, Purchasing and Supply Chain Management in Europe, and the UK’s Minister of State for Business and Enterprise, Michael Fallon.
Nissan dealers across Europe have already taken more than 14,000 pre-orders for the Note since order books opened in July.

Audi’s small saloon ‘will create a market in all the world

Audi believes it can build a UK market for the saloon version of its A3, despite booted small cars being traditionally shunned by British buyers.
The A3 saloon launches on 21st September as the third of a soon to be four-strong A3 range.
Slotting in alongside the existing three-door A3 hatch and five-door Sportback, the Saloon will soon be joined by a Cabriolet, that was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show last week.
Audi PR Director Jon Zammett agrees that the expert view that compact saloons do not have a market in the UK has generally been correct – until now.
“We can offer this car because Audi is a world player and we operate in markets such as China and North America – markets in which this format of car is huge,” Zammett says.
He adds that customers are becoming consistently more demanding, requiring cars that suit their needs as perfectly as possible; “That’s one of the reasons Audi has done so well with its entries in new segments,” he says.
“With this car we are yet again challenging the product segmentation barriers that you see. We believe we will be greatly expanding the compact saloon segment, earning a lot of new customers who will find that this kind of car suits their life, their daily requirements – it’s not too small and not too big.”
Audi A3 SaloonDespite reporting huge interest in the Saloon particularly at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, where according to Zammett the static display car “was mobbed,” Audi refuses to predict volume numbers for the car.
“We can’t say what the volume is going to be, it’s too early to tell. This is uncharted territory for us – the first car in the compact premium saloon segment, no-one’s ever really been here.
“We know how many we can make, but in terms of expanding demand and how much passion there will be for a car like this, it could be enormous.”

Fiat’s supermini people-carrier arrives in showrooms to see it

Fiat’s 500L MPW is now on UK sale, arriving in showrooms alongside the 500L as the newest member of Fiat’s expanding small-car family.
The 500L MPW is effectively a people-carrier version of the extended-wheelbase 500, and can be bought in either five-seat or 5+2-seat versions.
Fiat says that as a five seater the car is a credible alternative to a traditional C-segment estate, roomy, with a 638-litre boot but at least 20cm shorter overall than the average estate.
As a people carrier the car is described as the most compact 5+2 seater in its segment, measuring 4,352mm in length, 1784mm in width and 1,667mm in height.
It can also still offer the same load-carrying level of the five-seat version when its rearmost seats are folded flat and stored neatly under the boot the floor.
As in the 500L four engines are available – the 94bhp 1.4-litre petrol (in five-seat only); a 104bhp 0.9 TwinAir petrol; 84bhp 1.3 MultiJet diesel (also available with the Dualogic automatic transmission) and the 104bhp 1.6-litre MultiJet.
The 500L MPW comes with two trim levels, the familiar Pop Star and Lounge, and nine different exterior colour choices, plus a variety of contrasting roof and mirror colour combinations, and a range of alloy wheels in different sizes, styles and colours.
Prices start at £15,795 for the 1.4 Pop Star while the seven-seat versions range from £17,990 for either the TwinAir 104bhp Pop Star or 1.3 MultiJet 84bhp Pop Star.

q3 Audi Latest News

Overview:  August 19, 2013: India's fastest growing luxury car maker, Audi India has now launched the much anticipated price cut version of its flagship compact crossover Q3, called the Q3 S Edition in India for Rs. 24.99 lakh. At this price, the Q3 S Edition has become India's most affordable luxury SUV. Since the Q3 S is basically a stripped down version of the Q3, it misses out on some features like Quattro four-wheel drive and automatic transmission gearbox. It is now a front-wheel drive, and the power is transmitted to the wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. Also, the engine has been tuned for more fuel economy, it now returns an impressive 17.71kmpl mileage as against regular Q3's 15.73kmpl. However, the power too has come down, it now produces 140bhp, while the regular Q3 churns out 174.3bhp.

BMW X6 Review 2013 Free Download Pictures

Reviewers appreciate the novelty of the 2013 BMW X6, a four-seat SUV with up to 555 horsepower. However, they say it’s an overall impractical purchase for nearly every SUV shopper.
Reviewers say the 2013 BMW X6 performs better than any SUV has a right to. They say that even its base six-cylinder engine provides great acceleration, and that it handles better than most SUVs. However, as a vehicle with such a focus on performance, reviewers say it could do better. They note that its hefty curb weight negatively impacts handling, and that sedans or smaller crossovers with similar cargo capacities can offer better performance. Although the BMW X6 is technically an SUV that comes standard with all-wheel drive, it’s in no way an off-road vehicle. Plus, the X6’s fuel economy isn’t stellar. Base trims get 16/23 mpg city/highway, according to the EPA, and models with larger engines get even worse mileage.
The BMW X6’s interior may be small compared with other crossovers, but auto critics say it’s well-made and well-equipped. It only seats four, which is unusual for an SUV, and it costs much more than many SUVs that offer more cargo and passenger space. Reviewers do note that BMW’s iDrive system remains overly complicated, a complaint that’s been made about the system since it debuted.
If you like the BMW X6’s performance, but want more cargo space, consider the Porsche Caye

2014 BMW X1 Reviews and Prices With Detail

Reviewers say the 2014 BMW X1 has sharp handling and a powerful engine, but they note that limited cargo space and expensive options packages may detract from its appeal.
The 2014 BMW X1 has a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which is praised for offering ample power. Some reviewers say that the X1’s fuel-saving start-stop system is jarring and unrefined. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard and is lauded for its quick gear changes. According to the EPA, the BMW X1 gets up to 23/34 mpg city/highway, which is very good for the class. A turbocharged six-cylinder engine is available, which is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. However, the majority of critics recommend choosing the four-cylinder model because it offers strong acceleration, better fuel economy and a faster-shifting transmission than the six-cylinder model. The X1 earns praise for its powerful brakes and good steering feel, as well as its suspension, which they say provides a comfortable ride and athletic handling.
Automotive journalists say the X1’s cabin has the sophisticated styling, materials and build quality they expect from BMW. Critics also write that the 2014 X1 features roomy front seats, but some recommend upgrading to the optional sport seats for extra support. A few reviewers say that the rear seats aren’t spacious enough to be comfortable. The BMW X1 has one of the smallest cargo areas in its class, although one test driver likes the number of small-item storage spaces in the cabin. Reviewers say the X1’s iDrive infotainment system is uncomplicated and adeptly controls a number of audio, smartphone and navigation functions. The X1 has a lower base price than many of its competitors, but comes with fewer standard features. Standard features include leatherette seats, Bluetooth, a USB port, BMW’s iDrive infotainment system and an eight-speaker audio system with HD Radio. Optional features include leather seats, power front seats, a panoramic sunroof, an 11-speaker Harman/Kardon surround-sound system, a rearview camera and navigation.

Audi A1 Performane review

Any fears that the A1 Quattro’s double-hard appearance might be let down by its performance are smoothly but indomitably quashed by the opening salvo from the ridiculously over-endowed engine.
Never mind the headline power figure; with a huge and constant 258lb ft slug of torque from just 2,500rpm all the way to 4,500rpm, the Quattro surges through town centre traffic with the brawny ease of an Olympic sprinter. The potency is obvious from the moment you turn the key.
The quoted 5.7-second 0-62mph time hardly does it justice
And as with all tweaked up versions of this old 2.0-litre turbo motor, it has the feel of something ever so slightly illicit – more like a tuner car than a factory endorsed development.
This sensation is only reinforced in the A1 by the lengthy throw to the gearbox; just how far you have to move the lever around the gate emphasises the inappropriate appearance of this particular drivetrain in this particular car. But boy, when the road opens out does the engine ever go to work.
The quoted 5.7-second 0-62mph time hardly does it justice – even on ice-cold UK roads in March, the four-wheel drive traction is almost absolute, translating the torque into turbocharged momentum with snarling ruthlessness.
Cling on, and it keeps giving. Max power shows up at 6,000rpm, and the A1 snaps towards the rev limiter. Wring it right the way out, and this little bundle of fireworks will reputedly hit 152mph. We don’t doubt it.
The noise isn’t entirely inspiring, with a kind of booming coarseness inside the cabin at flat chat. 100mm tailpipes make this better on the outside – with the occasional pop adding spice to the upshifts – but what with this and the Quattro’s visual assault you can forget any expectations of stealth.

Audi Q3 Full Review

Audi as we see it seeks to redeem its compact SUV, the Q3’s identity as one of the more affordable luxury car offerings here in India, and the launch of its S Edition may just help them achieve that.

The Q3 S Edition features a de-tuned 2.0 TDI four-cylinder engine which now makes 142PS as opposed to the 180PS on the standard Q3 makes. It delivers 320Nm of torque between 1,750-2500rpm.
