AUBURN HILLS, Michigan — The 2012 Dodge Avenger SE V6 starts at $22,345, as Dodge on Tuesday added a value-oriented V6 model to the Avenger lineup. The price includes an $850 destination charge.

The Avenger SE V6 is $5,000 less than a comparable 2012 Toyota Camry SE with the 3.5-liter V6 engine. The 2012 Camry SE with a V6 engine starts at $27,400, including a $760 destination charge.

The Avenger SE V6 is $2,500 more than the base 2012 Dodge Avenger SE with a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine and a four-speed automatic transmission.

The 283-hp 2012 Avenger SE V6 includes a six-speed automatic transmission, 18-inch aluminum wheels, dual exhaust with bright tips and a body-color rear spoiler as standard.

The EPA says the 2012 Avenger with a V6 engine returns 19 mpg in city driving and 29 mpg on the highway. In comparison, the four-cylinder model returns 21 mpg in city driving and 30 mpg on the highway.
